Beautiful People
Our current project is the rock n roll fashion, poster art and music of the British counter culture from 1966 to 1976, featuring clothes from Granny Takes A Trip, Ossie Clark & Celia Birtwell, Apple Boutique, Mr Fish, Tommy Nutter, Zandra Rhodes and Thea Porter. We want to capture the spirit of the early bohemians and show how their anti-fashion individualism developed into the opulent and creatively indulgent styles which flourished in the late 60s and 70s.
We are looking to contact anyone who was part of or connected with the early bohemian scene in Chelsea. Maybe you wore the clothes, shopped or worked in those boutiques, were at UFO on Tottenham Court Road or an English Boy Model. If so we would love to hear from you.
The exhibition is to open at The National Centre for Craft and Design in June 2010 and will then tour.
